Gilad Harouvi

ISY, YREC, IAYT

Gilad (Gili) Harouvi is the co-founder and manager of the Yoga Shala. He studies and teaches yoga and uses yoga therapy methods with groups and individuals. He conducts the instructor and teacher trainings at the Shala as well as workshops in Israel and worldwide. For three years he was a member of the governing council of the Israeli Yoga Teachers’ Association and also served as its first organizational manager.

Gilad came to yoga after a ten-year career in the field of movement and modern dance (the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company, and The Place, London) and after having learned traditional tai chi. He is a student of Danny Paradise, the first teacher to introduce this style of yoga into Europe and one of the first 11 Ashtanga yoga teachers in the West. Throughout the years Gilad has met and studied with such world-renowned teachers as Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sharath Rangaswamy, David Swenson, Shandor Remete, Nancy Gilgoff, and of course Danny Paradise. He currently investigates yoga darshana as a classical system of thought and practice. He has developed the Anatomical Yoga Technique as a learning and practice aid.

Gilad is the first Israeli to bring the Ashtanga system to Israel (in 1985). He established the Yoga Shala and the teacher training college within it.
