Introducing Anatomical Yoga Technique – a unique practice designed to support, advance, and deepen your existing yoga practice.
Every experienced practitioner knows that yoga is based on the practice of breathing (pranayama), postures (asanas), and the fluid connection between postures (vinyasa). Yet many students, old and new, lack theoretical and practical knowledge needed for a true and deep understanding of the Ashtanga technique.
Anatomical Yoga Technique is a method for studying and exploring yoga developed by Gilad Harouvi at the Yoga Shala, based on more than 20 years of practicing, studying, researching, and teaching yoga. This technique provides special and essential tools that significantly improve the quality of practice.
This class is intended for experienced students who seek a deeper understanding of the structure and themes of the various series and the four basic principles of yoga practice. In each session we will look at a certain topic from both an anatomical and energetic perspective as well as topics related to the practice of asana and pranayama. We will explore the theory behind the practice by referring to textual and theoretical sources, suggesting different variations, working with props, and analyzing the components of yoga practice.
The deeper understanding gained through Anatomical Yoga Technique also helps in adapting the practice to individual abilities and limitations. With this technique it is possible to strengthen personal weak points revealed during practice by choosing a variation that best suits the particular anatomy of the student. Similarly it is possible to help students with injuries by configuring specific modes of practice.
