Are you proficient in asanas? It’s time for you to learn how to breathe!
Do you find it difficult to concentrate on pranayama while doing the asanas? Do you want to become familiar with the pranayama series associated with the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga? Do you wish to deepen your practice? Ashtanga Level 2–3 with Pranayama Practice and Study is the right class for you.
Yoga practice is essentially based on a smooth transition between different poses with a focus on pranayama – breathing exercises. Achieving focus and control of the breath leads to relaxation of consciousness and opens the way to inner contemplation. According to the yoga tradition, pranayama practice is a direct continuation of asana practice. After you become proficient in asana, you move to a thorough and deep practice of the diverse pranayama series which is based on ujjayi pranayama and complements the practice of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga.
This class is intended for skilled Ashtanga students who are proficient at asana, practice regularly at level 2-3, and wish to develop and deepen their understanding of yoga theory and practice.
In this class we will study and practice the pranayama series associated with Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga, as learned and taught by the first 11 teachers: David Williams, Danny Paradise, David Swenson and others. We will practice pranayama on its own as well as integrated with asana.
This class is a vital step in developing a personal yoga practice. It is also a preparation for Second Series Beginners with Pranayama.
The class is led by Gilad Harouvi, who has been practicing, studying, researching, and teaching yoga for more than 20 years.
