Ashtanga Yoga – Level 1–3

A lively practice unique to the Yoga Shala!


Come enjoy a special class in which students of all levels practice together.
This is a classic Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga class focusing on vinyasa (flow): a dynamic transition between different asanas (postures), with an emphasis on the balance between movement and pranayama (breathing).

In this class we will practice the Primary Series of Ashtanga, yoga chikitsa, which strengthens and purifies the body, improves flexibility, and makes it possible to identify blocks in energy flow. A serious practice of this series is very important because it lays the physical and mental foundations for the practice of the more advanced series, which in turn focus on correcting (not just identifying) imbalances in the energetic system.
This mixed-level practice makes for a unique energetic experience, combining a dynamic practice with precision in the performance of asanas, with attention given to the particular needs of each student.
It is a must for any student wishing to embrace yoga as a way of life and proceed along the experiential and fascinating path that the yoga tradition has to offer.
